Our Story
Despite the fact that our current Dapto dental clinic has only been open since July of 2017, our story actually starts over forty years ago in 1975 when Dr Ivan Young joined as an associate dentist in a Wollongong dental practice founded by Dr McGovern. As a team they established a good reputation as a trusting family dentist serving the Illawara region. Later in the early 1980’s they established another dental clinic in Woonona.
In 2014, Dr Beena Kurian and Mr Shinu Joseph took over the ownership of Dr Young’s share in both the Wollongong (Kembla Street) and the Woonona practice located on Princes Highway. Together they formed Woonona dentists at 379 Princes Highway, Woonona.
After Dr Young retired in 2016, Dr. Beena Kurian along with her associate dentists are continuing the tradition of providing a blend of quality dental care at affordable fees.
In 2017, Dapto Dentists opened it’s door as a branch practice to provide gentle and affordable dentistry for southern Illawarra region.

We offer a full range of dental services to the local community. Our patients are mainly from Dapto and Surrounding suburbs such as Horsley, Koonawarra, Kanahooka, Albion Park, Oak flats, Kembla grange, Unanderra, Warilla, Lake Heights NSW. Our dental clinic also caters to the dental care needs of patients from Shellharbour and Wollongong areas as well.
General dentistry
Dapto dentists provide a wide range of general dental services including dental check-ups, examinations and cleaning, tooth fillings, gum disease treatment, general extractions and wisdom teeth removal. We also provide custom-fitted mouthguards for sports lovers.
For nervous or anxious patients, our experienced team offers IV sedation. This is an effective and safe way for you to get the treatment you need while you feel both comfortable and relaxed.

*Gap free is applicable to health fund insurance holders with dental care coverage within their limit only. If you are with a health fund, the rebate to the practice may be more than $150, meaning no out of pocket expense for you. It cannot be used with any other offer. If the health fund do not pay, patient has to pay $150 for this service. Fees are subject to change from time to time.
Yes we have a Quality, Innovation, Performance (QIP) Accreditation. This means that we’re independently recognised for exceeding National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.
We speak a number of languages including Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, Sindhi, Gujarati, Portuguese, Spanish, Macedonian and of course, English.
There is a dedicated carpak at the rear of the building. Access through Mall Lane.
In the case of dental emergencies we will offer either out of hours treatment or support the same day should a patient need it.

Your appointment time has been specifically set aside for you. At Dapto Dentists, we do not overbook patients. For us to provide you with optimum care we need to allocate an appropriate amount of time to carry out the necessary treatment. Should you fail to notify us that you are unable to attend your appointment, it will affect three of our team members’ time and disadvantages other patients.
We understand that from time to time unforeseen circumstances arise. So please notify us at least 24 hours prior to your appointment if you are unable to attend. This gives us the opportunity to offer your appointed time to another patient.
